I know....it's been a while.
It's been quite busy around here lately...
Pump update: my pump educator called me Monday night and we talked about what I needed to do to get ready for my training on Monday (just 5 days away). I'll have to skip my nighttime and morning Lantus doses and take correction doses of Humalog if my BG's high. She also got some information from me about my Lantus doses, BG correction doses, and mealtime doses. I know that she's using that information to calculate what my settings will be. I'm also changing insulin types in this whole process. Since being diagnosed with type I diabetes in January 2002, I have been using some form of Humalog. Now I'll be using Novalog, I think because it works better with the pump. I don't know how that will change all of those doses and stuff that I had been taking.
I've also begun wearing the pump to bed to begin to get a feel for it while I'm sleeping. It doesn't seem to get in the way too much. I'm still experimenting with the best place to put it.
Tuesday was Mardi Gras (Shrove Tuesday), so things were a little crazy. We ended the day at church with a "Jammin' for Jesus" talent show. (I didn't give it that name!) Trivia at Wings 'n' Things that night had lots of trivia about Mardi Gras traditions and origins.
Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, so in addition to the usual Wednesday activities, we had an Ash Wednesday service. It was a first for me and a first for First Baptist Griffin. It was a really great time of worship, I believe. I also went to a funeral at St. George's Episcopal Church. The husband of the director of music passed away, so I thought I should be a part of that service. It was a nice service, but long: almost 1.5 hours.
My ordination service and stuff has been confirmed. I'll have the ordination council Monday, February 21 and then the service will be Sunday, February 27 (my mom's birthday coincidentally) at 6:30pm at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist in Atlanta. I'm looking forward to it.
Well...I hope to be able to update more frequently this weekend.
