I had a great time at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia General Assembly this weekend. It was a good of worship, learning, and fellowship. I got to see a lady who was my Minister to Children when I was in preschool. She's the Minister of Faith Development at FBC Rome. I also got to network with some music ministry folks, too.

The preacher did an excellent job. On Friday, he spoke about the life Jesus as the "central standard" by which Scripture is to be interpreted. He referenced numerous passages that are contradictory in the Bible, but went on to say that Jesus' life is our lens for interpretation. This morning he looked more specifically about women in ministry and the interpretation of those contradictory passages. Once again, Jesus is the guide for interpretation saying "walls down, arms out." All the walls of division--class, race, gender, etc.--were torn down by Christ. It was very good. My Mom, Dad and Ricky came this morning to sing with the CBF of Georgia state choir for this morning's worship service. It was nice to hang with them during that time and afterward at lunch and a little bit at home.

Tomorrow's going to be a long day--two worship services in the morning and then some kids' concert by Jana Alayra from California. I'm afraid she's going to be the mousecateer-type. I'm just not really into that. Hmm.

I had to do a site change this afternoon without my inserter! It was a little bit unnerving with that 2" needle to stick in without any guidance. I hope I did it correctly!

I'm off to unpack and then hit the sack.

Good news: I have figured out 12 hot wings and a small order of onion rings. By figured out, I mean that I have been able to correctly calculate carbohydrates for onion rings, which can be very nebulous, and have gotten the dual wave bolus amounts right. 65g carb, 65% normal bolus, 35% square wave over 2 hours.

It's a beautiful thing.

At my ordination service Sunday night, the Sanctuary Choir of FBC Griffin gave me a very nice oil painting of the church. I'm debating about where to hang it: the office or the apartment. Any thoughts from the peanut gallery?

We had trivia tonight at Wings 'n' Things. There were just three of us there, but we managed to eke out a 3rd place win. The final question was name five of the six chess pieces. POC! There was also a question about the name of the science of growing plants without soil. Thanks to Star Trek, I knew that it was hydroponics. There no telling when that stuff will come in handy.

This weekend, I'll be going to the CBF of Georgia General Assembly at First Baptist, Rome, Georgia. I'm looking forward to it. I'll be singing with the CBF of Georgia State Choir at the Saturday morning worship service. I have a solo singing with "Children of God" which is a very nice gospel-style arrangement. The preacher, Dr. Charles Poole, will be giving a sermon entitled "We ordain women because we baptize girls." It sounds like a very interesting sermon.

You can just call me "The Rev."

I just got back from my ordination service. It was such a wonderful and affirming time. There was a little traffic incident that delayed the folks from Griffin, so we started the service a little late. There were also some folks from Birmingham I was not expecting to see, which was a very nice surprise.

The service was wonderful. I had lots of hands laid on me. I feel like I should probably take a shower before I go to bed!!!!

All in all, it was a great day.

It's back to the grind in the morning, but that's what I here for!
